Specifically for PhD Candidates

As a PhD candidate and Research Associate, you have different roles and activities here at the S2B. Roughly your time is split into four key parts:

Scientific Qualification (25%)

This entails your independent research, aka your PhD. At the start of your journey, you have to decide for a topic, a partner university and a supervisor. Check out our pages about the various partner universities that might help you in your search.

Research Activities to drive the topics of the S2B (35%)

This mainly includes your work in our projects (Erasmus, BMBF, others) and the writing of new applications and proposals to acquire new funding for the centre. For further information, check out our Projects and Proposals pages.

Teaching Activities (25%)

Every PhD Candidate is required to teach at least 3 Semesterwochenstunden (SWS, hours). Also, from time to time, teaching includes supervision of thesis or transfermodules. See the pages on Teaching for further information on our various teaching activities at the S2B.

Self-administration (15%)

  • Network management and care

  • Participation in workshops and conferences

  • Support in the activities of the S2B Team

Student Assistants (aka Hiwis)

Our team is often extended and supported by multiple student workers from both Bachelor and Master programs from FH Münster and beyond. Every PhD candidate has a limited budget from the faculty to get supported by one student assistant. Further budget need to be acquired through our various projects.
